On Tuesday 5th of September, Tecsidel presented the STREET FLOW pilot project that started in June in Mollerussa within the framework of the Smart Catalonia strategy of La Generalitat de Catalunya. It is necessary to remember that STREET FLOW is an experimental project of smart mobility that Tecsidel has performed with funding granted by the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), which belongs to the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness of Spain. It consists of a system installed on a single gantry that analyses the composition of vehicles that pass by, in order to classify and measure the vehicles, one by one. This gantry is installed in the Smart Lab Zone of Mollerussa city.
The day began with an encouraging speech from Mr. Marc Solsona, mayor of Mollerussa, in which he showed the goal of approaching this city to the Smart City concept. He was proud to mention several projects in which Mollerussa has participated in the development of urban mobility. The project STREET FLOW was explained technically in depth thanks to the presentation made by Konstantinos Sakkos, the project manager (https://youtu.be/i5yJeZkGbH8)
Rosa Paradell from I2CAT Foundation provided a very interesting lecture about the connected vehicle in which she defined the different types of vehicles, their respective benefits and the different current communication protocols. Michele Ganz, Tecsidel's sales manager, concluded the talks with a lecture about the mobility of the future, emphasizing the evolution of ERP (Electronic Road Pricing) compared to the leading countries.
Finally, Mr. Jordi Puigneró, secretary of Telecommunications, Cybersecurity and Digital Society of Catalonia, closed the presentation thanking the city of Mollerussa and the companies involved for the innovative initiative that contributes notably to the public roads efficiency, one of the problems that most concern the community. He also highlighted the desire and importance of betting for the concept of Smart City and the digital revolution.
Finally, the attendees were able to see in real time the data extracted by the STREET FLOW system and visited the installation of the gantry. The presentation was attended by leading companies in the urban mobility industry such as Optral, Barkeno, Autema or Doxa and also important characters of the public field from Barcelona, ??Lleida, Sant Cugat or Esplugues de Llobregat, apart from Mollerussa.
