Tecsidel in the middle of Dushanbe-Chanak Project in Tajikistan

Tecsidel and Innovation Road Solutions (IRS), the only concessionaire that exists in the Republic of Tajikistan, are working on the Dushanbe-Chanak highway, the road that connect the two main cities of Tajikistan. The project was awarded in 2015 and has a strategic goal, because this means an important improvement in commercial transport established within bordering countries. It is a challenging environment that requires a modernization of current toll systems, that is why IRS chose Tecsidel, an international company with the most state-of-the-art solutions.

The project consists of 7 plazas and 52 lanes. A conventional open toll system combines manual and automatic payment options; so, the vehicle can pay in cash, by credit or debit card, Smart Card (MIFARE) and TAGs. As well of these well-known payment methods, Tecsidel has integrated the solution with the National Payment System, a specific and very popular system used by Russia and some countries in Central Asia.

24 of these lanes also have the necessary equipment to automatically classify the vehicle depending on its number of axles and vehicle height.

However, the most innovative point in this installation is the Weigh In Motion system that is incorporated in the other 28 lanes. This automatic system allows to classify vehicles based on each axle and vehicle weight, and it is not required to stop. So, in the toll plaza the vehicle will pay the fee according to its weight.

The project includes a maintenance management solution (TMMS+) to monitor and control maintenance operations, allowing all incidences to be tracked until they are solved. It also includes the Back-Office solution with the following goals:

  • Transactions, shifts and take

  • Conciliation settlement

  • Analyze all information registered in the reports

  • Take actions based on analysis results

  • Control the equipment of the system

Tecsidel begins the extension of 2 plazas and 25 lanes in Rutas de Lima (Peru)

Tecsidel has begun the installation of 2 plazas and 25 additional lanes in Rutas de Lima project (Peru). The supply and installation of the toll system will be located in North direction of Chillon’s highway integrating all lanes with the existing ones of South direction of Chillon, although these will be handled as two separate plazas due to the large volume of traffic.

This expansion project also includes Huaylas Plaza, which currently has temporary lanes, also installed by Tecsidel in the original project. Chillon Plaza will be operational in January 2017 to serve the peak in traffic due to summer vacations. However, Huaylas Plaza is expected to be operational in mid-2017. To summarize, there will be a total of 11 plazas and over 80 lanes.

The new lanes use the most advanced technology installed by Tecsidel, as in the other plazas (mixed and automatic), the reversible ones. It is necessary to mention that Tecsidel is piloting new photocell designs for detection and vehicle classification, which will be used soon to serve different customers.

These plazas will be integrated into the Tecsidel Toll Plus system, established worldwide and currently used in Rutas de Lima, and MEP electronic payment  method). This customer has pioneered the implementation of MEP, a new system that allows the management of electronic payment devices (tags) associated with user accounts. This system has been designed to provide electronic payment services interoperating with different concessionaires with one device and balance.

Tecsidel installs the first MEP system in Rutas de Lima (Peru)

For the first time in Peru, Tecsidel has installed MEP system that allows the management of electronic payment devices (tags), associated with user accounts.

This system is designed to provide electronic payment services interoperating with different concessionaires with one device and balance. It allows to define user accounts that oneself can create and maintain, by recharging from any computer or Smartphone. The user must only enter his tag or plate number.

The system controls tags assigned to each vehicle and can share the balance between vehicles or separate them for each one, as a single customer can have different accounts that are managed in an integrated way, both from central system and user account.

The procedure is summarized in 3 steps:

1. Create an account and assigns a TAG to each customer’s vehicle

2. Recharge desired balance

3. The system records transactions, updates balances and generates transactions invoices.

It is suitable for private customers and for companies with large vehicles fleets, both pre-payment and post-payment, with the possibility of electronic or manual invoicing.

Tecsidel opens the first section of Via Alterna Sur (VAS) highway in Guatemala

The first section of Via Alterna Sur (VAS) highway in Guatemala was opened in May. The installation configured by Tecsidel involves two plazas in Idesa - Mayan and San Miguel Petapa. These plazas contain 11 mixed lanes with cash and tag payment systems in addition to an express way.

The Toll system has been installed in collaboration with TAS as local integrator, and is designed to:

• be safe and efficient

• allow maximum control of collection procedures, fraud and incidents

• operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without interruption

The system design facilitates new technologies integration and real-time performance as well as a large number of operations with reduced operating costs.

The system is built with a pyramidal structure that integrates the following operational levels:

• Toll road: It integrates control functions of passing vehicles, toll collection, route equipment and record of anomalies generated.

• Toll plaza: It integrates acquisition functions and records the information generated by toll roads, collectors’ statements, route equipment operations, control box, operation reports and analysis of anomalies produced.

• Central system: It integrates acquisition, registration, consolidation and data processing functions of toll plazas, operations control, traffic and collection reports, fraud control, generation and exchange of information with external systems, and treatment and distribution of different types of data tables.

Agreement with AB Technology Singapore

Tecsidel is proud to announce the appointment of AB Technology Singapore as its partner for turnkey solutions in Indonesia, Vietnam, East Timor, the Philippines and Sri Lanka.

Tecsidel strategy to become stronger also in Asian Countries with this new agreement, to the highly market and developed economies of  this region. These nations and areas are notable for maintaining exceptionally high growth rates.

Economic growth in Asia is set to bring new opportunities to the businesses, particularly as the region integrates further and international companies expand into this part of the world.

Due to the high traffic volume, the most advance technology is required in these countries. Tecsidel will provide expertise implementing  the Toll system integration at the most high standard levels, as the ones integrated in the other continents.

New ETC solution in India

To facilitate a seamless movement of traffic across all toll roads in India, IHMCL (owned by the National Highway Authority of India - NHAI) has started a nation-wide program of Electronic Toll Collection. This program, based on RFID technology, aims to implement, unify and interoperate the ETC solution for National Highways in India.

Concerning the NHAI guidelines and compliances, Tecsidel has proposed an independent solution for the ETC only lanes, namely:

• ETC only lanes that include vehicle detection through recognition of the RFID tag status, which guides the vehicle through specific ETC lane exits. If the tag is not recognized or detected by the system, the vehicle is guided lane where the vehicle fee has to be paid in cash.

• Integration with the Central Clearing House (CCH) includes the sharing of ETC transactions from the Tecsidel system to Central Clearing House (CCH) and vice versa.
