MLFF Toll

The Multi-Lane Free Flow electronic toll system (MLFF) developed by Tecsidel automatically manages the toll without the vehicle having to stop at the collection point so the vehicular flow is not affected.MLFF system is the most intelligent toll solution for urban environments where toll collection is aimed at reducing traffic congestion in certain areas.

This toll solution, successfully implemented in many countries, provides the following advantages:

  • . It reduces infrastructure and operational costs.
  • . It increases traffic mobility and reduces congestion.
  • . It increases road safety and user convenience.

The components of the system can be installed in three, two or just one single gantry. The system is able to automatically detect, identify and classify vehicles without affecting the vehicular flow on roads, highways, or city access points.

This free flow solution controls the exchange of information between the vehicle identification system (TAG) and the antennae that are installed in the gantry. For TAG identification and the pertinent collection, use is made of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication) technology.

Vehicles are detected and classified by volume by the AVC (Automated Vehicle Classification) subsystem through its state-of-the-art laser technology.

The vehicle registry subsystem captures front and back images of the vehicle, it stores detailed information and identifies the licence plate through OCR or DSCR technology. Furthermore, this system also follows the trajectory of the vehicle when it is crossing the gantry, detecting possible overtaking or lane changes.
